NEWTON TOWNSHIP MINUTES 9-11-2019

Newton Township Trustees met in regular session on Wednesday, September 11th, 2019.  Those in attendance were Paula Frank, candidate for Fiscal Officer and Township resident; Conrad owner of Monarch Roofing; Jason Taylor, Road Maintenance employee for the Township; Allen Deaver, Fire Chief and Larry Geiger, Assistant Fire Chief; James R. Smith and Robert Stephenson, Charles R. Elson, Township Trustees and Derek Dozer, Fiscal Officer.

Meeting was called to order by Trustee Elson at 6:04pm.

Pledge to the flag was led by Randy Elson.

Agenda approved.

Minutes were approved as presented.

Public Participation:

Conrad with Monarch Roofing

Presented how the roofing project went.  Discussed the modifications on the roof.

$11,561.19 overage more than the $8,761.10.

Fire Department Business

Life Pack contract - $12,240 for 4 years.

3 year service contract for mask fit tester for calibration, shipping - $2,480 

$576.45 for Fire Prevention materials from Foremost promotions.

Motion by Trustee Smith to enter into the Life Pack contract, seconded by Trustee Elson.  All agreed.

Discussion on gym floor costs with insurance, etc.

Fire Fighter Physicals will be scheduled through Dr Kalis.

Fire wall needs to be replaced $800 through Keytel.

BWC inspection went well.  LOTO went well. 

911 walk was today at the school.  3.43 miles.

Crew receiving an award from Genesis stemi award.  Sept 21st is the banquet.  Mason Deaver, Kaleigh Yarger and Justin Mears.

Limestone Valley Road putting a gasline in.  Asked them to delay until after parade.

 Road Report – Jason Taylor

Ditching and grinding and widening roads out.

Discussion on Limestone Valley Road.

FEMA inspector in tomorrow to inspect Mahon Rd.  Coming back on 17th to look at Workman, on 25th will inspect Ford and Slack.

Greenhouse trailer was put in and a bulldozer scratched up the road.

Fiscal Officer Reports

Payment registers, appropriations, fund status reports received.

All bills presented were deemed to be valid expenditures and were to be paid as presented.

Next regular meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 9th, 2019 at 6:00pm at the Fire Department.  Appropriations were discussed and approved.
