NEWTON TOWNSHIP MINUTES 5-07-2019

Newton Township Trustees met in regular session on Wednesday, May 7th, 2019.  Those in attendance were Mr and Mrs Tom Wisecarver, Township Residents; Larry Taylor, Road Maintenance Employee for the Township; Craig Knox Assistant Chief and EMS Coordinator; James R. Smith and Robert Stephenson, Charles R. Elson, Township Trustees and Derek Dozer, Fiscal Officer.

Meeting was called to order by Trustee Elson at 6:00pm.

Pledge to the flag was led by Randy Elson.

Agenda approved.

Minutes were approved as presented.

Public Participation:  Tom Wisecarver was in attendance to speak about a road issue.

Fire Department Business

Additional quotes were given for the roof project. 

Monarch Enterprises - $45, 935.45 with 10 year warranty.

Merriam Roofing - $6,450.

Centimark - $8,662 for 6 months.

$8,000 for Rescue Wreck is estimate.

Car crashed into the light pole at FD.  Estimate was $5,043.00

Road Report – Jason Taylor

Columbus Equipment Company – Grader.  Ball stud went out.

Payne, Lower Kroft, Workman, and Ridgley Roads next on list.

East Fultonham drainage issue.

Culvert on Dona Drive.

Lakewood Drive – Cracks on Lakewood Drive.   Neff Paving was $8,500.   Birkhimer was $9,000.

Shelly Company did this paving last Summer and it is already cracking beyond a reasonable amount.

Foxfire has 3 issues and Birkhimer wants $16,000 for all 3.

Trustee Stephenson made motion to accept Birkhimer’s estimate for $9000.00 to fill cracks on Lakewood, Newton, and Broadvue Circle.  Trustee Elson seconded the motion.  All 3 agreed.

Rucker Road issue.  Prosecutor has not gotten back to him. 

Sent request to County Engineer’s Office about ditching our roads with yearly fund money.

New Business -   None.

Trustees Reports:   - None.

Went into Executive Session at 6:50pm to talk about personnel issues.

Came out of Executive Session at 7:45pm.

Fiscal Officer Reports

Payment registers, appropriations, fund status reports received.

All bills presented were deemed to be valid expenditures and were to be paid as presented.

Next regular meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 12th, 2019 at 6:00pm at the Fire Department. 

Meeting adjourned at 7:52pm.
