NEWTON TOWNSHIP MINUTES   10-10-2018

Newton Township Trustees met in regular session on Wednesday, October 10th, 2018.  Those in attendance were; Larry Taylor, Road Maintenance Supervisor for the Township; Allen Deaver - Fire Chief and Craig Knox – Assistant Fire Chief; James R. Smith and Robert Stephenson, Charles R. Elson, Township Trustees and Derek Dozer, Fiscal Officer.

Meeting was called to order by Trustee Stephenson at 6:00pm.

Pledge to the flag was led by Robert J. Stephenson.

Agenda approved.

Minutes were approved as presented.

Public Participation: 

None

Fire Department Business

New medic has transmission issues.

Plants in the ground at the new grow facility.

Would like to put Spectrum fiber cable in for internet.

Trustee Stephenson made a motion to install fiber optic cable to the Fire Department.  Trustee Elson seconded.  All 3 agreed.

Discussion about workout facilities use by the public.   Recommendation to not allow anyone except the members and employees.  Will discuss next month.

Boat was sent away and repaired.  Glue seam leak.

Monday, December 17, is Christmas dinner.

Saturday, January 19th is annual banquet at EagleSticks.

Road Report – Larry Taylor

All the asphalt is done.

Mowing and trimming is done.

Spot on Sunset that needs repaired.

Dirt needed filled in due to accident at Greenhouse and Shaw.

Some calls have come in about entries into houses.

Will take a couple days to finish berming.

Need to get a couple 35mph signs back on Greenhouse and Shaw.

Crock Road to Huggins need to do something with the ditches.

Lewellyn Road a truck delivering furniture.

Quasar tractor has torn up road.

Old Business -  

Property in East Fultonham will be given to the landbank.

Boyd in Ironspot has until the 30th of October or he will be arrested.

New Business -  

JEDD Meeting was attended by Trustee Stephenson and Trustee Elson on Aug 07th.

Salt on State bid was Oct 6th.  Told them that we would take 300 tons of salt.

Trustees Reports: 

Trustee Stephenson - Farmer who damaged road said he would pay for road by January 1st.

Trustee Smith – Very unhappy with the County’s Chip and Seal.

Fiscal Officer Reports

Payment registers, appropriations, fund status reports, grass roots clippings received.

All bills presented were deemed to be valid expenditures and were to be paid as presented.

Meeting adjourned at 7:30pm
