NEWTON TOWNSHIP MINUTES 11-14-2018
Newton Township Trustees met in regular session on Wednesday, November 14th, 2018. Those in attendance were; John Phillips – Township Resident; Larry Taylor, Road Maintenance Supervisor for the Township; Craig Knox – Assistant Fire Chief; James R. Smith and Robert Stephenson, Charles R. Elson, Township Trustees and Derek Dozer, Fiscal Officer.
Meeting was called to order by Trustee Stephenson at 6:00pm.
Pledge to the flag was led by Robert J. Stephenson.
Agenda approved.
Minutes were approved as presented.
Public Participation:
None
Fire Department Business:
Old engine 1081 cracked glass.
Newest medic 1082. Transmission leak. Covered under warranty except tow.
Rescue 1081 transmission issue. WW Williams in Columbus. Serviced but no issue found.
Vehicles going through annual inspections with Crawmer.
New doors in from Modern should be installed.
Still haven’t seen estimate for soffit.
Saup Hartley doing some roofing repairs.
Started class in Perry County 21 participants.
EMT classes
FF1 class in planning stages.
Josh Bryan returned from Leave of Absence. He is the Training Coord.
Marty Mercer staying as program coordinator.
Brady Johnson is skills evaluation coordinator.
Will need to order turnout gear – 1) John Stephenson 2) Josh Ames
Put in for 10 sets of class A uniforms. That is a 5k purchase.
Will need to buy a 2 ˝ inch nozzles. Catalog price is $1750 each.
Discussion about workout facilities use by the public. Recommendation to not allow anyone except the members and employees. Will discuss next month.
Road Report – Larry Taylor
Has been grading. Has been patching holes.
Georgia Pines is complete.
Old Business -
Working with Prosecutor on Schaffer road damage.
Salt will be ordered around Jan 1.
New Business -
Far end of Crock Rd needs work per Elson.
Trustees Reports:
Trustee Stephenson - Farmer who damaged road said he would pay for road by January 1st.
Trustee Smith – Very unhappy with the County’s Chip and Seal.
Fiscal Officer Reports
A resolution (1-11-14-2018) was presented, approved, and signed to moved funds in account 2191 for appropriations. The resolution included to moves of funds 1 totaling 11,000, and 1 totaling 7,500.
Payment registers, appropriations, fund status reports, grass roots clippings received.
All bills presented were deemed to be valid expenditures and were to be paid as presented.
