NEWTON TOWNSHIP MINUTES   5-09-2018

Newton Township Trustees met in regular session on Wednesday, May 09th, 2018.  Those in attendance were Jon Stottsberry, Dora Maxwell, Township residents; Larry Taylor, Road Maintenance Supervisor for the Township; Larry Geiger and Craig Knox - Assistant Fire Chief of the Fire Department; James R. Smith and Robert Stephenson, Charles R. Elson, Township Trustees and Derek Dozer, Fiscal Officer.

Meeting was called to order by Trustee Stephenson at 6:00pm.

Pledge to the flag was led by Robert J. Stephenson.

Agenda approved.

Minutes were approved as presented.

Public Participation: 

Dora Maxwell – White Cottage Community Days

July 14th – Community Fun Day

Sept 28th, 29th, 30th - Flea Market

Duck Race on Jonathan Creek.  Looking at other various races.

Fire Department Business

Ladder truck back in service.  Locking mechanism needed ordered. 

New Brush Truck being put together now.

Old brush truck can be sold at County auction.

Long discussion on building and repairs needed.

Bids for stucco, awning, and door replacement will be bid.

Road Report – Larry Taylor

Culvert on Foxfire.

Old Business -     None

New Business -  Salt for upcoming year from State.  Order 300 tons.

Hartman will be hauling cinders.

Trustees Reports: 

Nothing more.

 Fiscal Officer Reports

Payment registers, appropriations, fund status reports, grass roots clippings received.

Correspondence received from Charter Communications and Cobra Pipeline.

All bills presented were deemed to be valid expenditures and were to be paid as presented.

Meeting adjourned at 7:17pm
