NEWTON TOWNSHIP MINUTES 2-14-2018
Newton Township Trustees met in regular session on Wednesday, February 14th, 2018. Those in attendance were Jon Stottsberry a Township resident; Larry Taylor, Road Maintenance Supervisor for the Township; Craig Knox Assistant Chief and EMS Coordinator; James R. Smith and Robert Stephenson, Charles R. Elson, Township Trustees and Derek Dozer, Fiscal Officer.
Meeting was called to order by Trustee Stephenson at 6:03pm.
Pledge to the flag was led by Robert J. Stephenson.
Agenda approved.
Minutes were approved as presented.
Public Participation:
None.
Fire Department Business:
Runs have been up.
New phone system will be $2,200.
Trustee Stephenson made motion to purchase the new phone system for $2,200. Motion was seconded by Smith. All 3 agreed. Motion passed.
Road Report – Larry Taylor
Salt bin is half full. Will get some delivered by Hartmans if more weather hits.
Roads are soft and muddy. Expect to see large stone bills coming in.
New a new furnace for the garage. Can be purchased at Haebeggers in Zanesville for less than $1500.
Trustee Smith made the motion to purchase a new furnace from Haebeggers not to exceed $1500. Trustee Elson seconded the motion. All 3 agreed. Motion passed.

Trustees Reports:
Nothing more.
Fiscal Officer Reports
Payment registers, appropriations, fund status reports, grass roots clippings received.
All bills presented were deemed to be valid expenditures and were to be paid as presented.
Price increase for Englefield Oil received.
Letter from Spectrum on digital service.
Computer for the website has something wrong with it. Screen is not powering up and warranty is expired will be looking for a replacement. Price for hardware should not to exceed $750. Likely purchase from Staples tax exempt and account there.
Trustee Smith made motion to purchase new pc and software capable of running the Township’s website on it. Trustee Elson seconded the motion. All three approved. Motion passed.
Notified Trustees of need to transfer money from General Fund into Fire/EMS and possibly Road until the tax disbursement occurs then money will be transferred back into General. This was guidance from the Auditor. Trustees signed off on moving 30k from General to EMS until 1st Half Disbursement.
