NEWTON TOWNSHIP MINUTES 4-11-2018
Newton Township Trustees met in regular session on Wednesday, April 11th, 2018. Those in attendance were Jon Stottsberry, Colton Evans, Township residents; Larry Taylor, Road Maintenance Supervisor for the Township; Allen Deaver Fire Chief; James R. Smith and Robert Stephenson, Charles R. Elson, Township Trustees and Derek Dozer, Fiscal Officer.
Meeting was called to order by Trustee Stephenson at 6:06 pm.
Pledge to the flag was led by Robert J. Stephenson.
Agenda approved.
Minutes were approved as presented.
Public Participation:
Colton Evans – Student at Mid-East Buffalo Campus who lives on Crock Rd is attending for his Government class. Will need a picture.
Fire Department Business:
Ladder truck has been damaged. Guessing the damage was between 5,000 and 7,500 to fix the pipe and nozzle on the truck. Will get more details on pricing later.
Brush truck has been purchased from Dutro.
Joe Lewis is the stucco contractor and could not get the bid in tonight but will get the bid in by the end of the week. Work will be tabled until the next meeting.
FDIC starts on April 22nd. Day-to-day will be Jake Lutz.
Waiting on response from last audit to start EMT classes.
Road Report – Larry Taylor
Drying up enough to grade.
Putting stone on and patching holes.
Doug Davis called Trustee Stephenson out to talk about some of the roads in question.
Yost Road was around $6,000.
Ford Road was around $25,000.
Rucker, Lower Kroft, Workman, FoxFire, Crock, Carson, Mahon, Tipton was around $12,000.
Resolution 1-4-11-2018 was passed to allow the County Engineer’s Office to repairs the roads.
Asphalt Zipper can be listed on GovDeals.com for $35,000.00 and see if any interest.
Trustee Smith made motion to list Township’s Asphalt Zipper online with a reserve of $35,000.
Trustee Elson seconded the motion. All 3 agreed.
Alley off Old Town Road alley across from Columbia Drive is not Township’s to maintain.
Call from AT&T to upgrade fiberoptic lines.

Payment registers, appropriations, fund status reports, grass roots clippings received.
All bills presented were deemed to be valid expenditures and were to be paid as presented.
