NEWTON TOWNSHIP MINUTES 3-8-2017

Newton Township Trustees met in regular session on Wednesday, March 8, 2017.  Those in attendance were Larry Taylor, Road Maintenance Supervisor; Chief Allen Deaver of the Fire Department, Assistant Chief & EMS Coordinator Craig Knox of the Fire Department;  James R. Smith and Robert Stephenson, Charles R. Elson, Township Trustees.

Meeting was called to order by Trustee Smith at 6:00pm.

Pledge to the flag was led by James R. Smith.

Agenda approved.

Minutes were approved as presented.

Public Participation:

None.

Fire Department Business

Fema Grant update.  Will give updated numbers to Fiscal Officer Dozer.

SCBA compressor delivered.

Airpacks are in.

Medic 1081 at Crawmers with motor issue.

Brush 1082 – New tires and alignment.

Fire in East Fultonham is being investigated by the Fire Marshall.

Boiler has been ordered.

Road Report

Lewellyn Road is not passable due to beaver dam.

Slack Road continues to wash out.

Mr. Smith presented Chip Seal information and bid wording.

Mr. Stephenson presented Engineer’s Office estimate for Broadvue Circle.

Mr. Smith – Owner of Avondale Drive Thru took letter from Trustee Stephenson to his attorney and was told that it wasn’t valid unless signed by all 3 Trustees.

Mr. Elson – Received a couple of calls about taxes.  Received a call requesting that Butcherknife be widened.

Mrs Payne on Thompson Run water run off issue.

Slack Road bridge.

Thompson Run Rd needs ditched.

Trouble with trash and tires being dumped still.

Mr. Smith

Need to post for bids to sell dump truck from crash.

Trustees Reports:

                Nothing further.

Payment registers, fund status reports, grass roots clippings received.

All bills presented were deemed to be valid expenditures and were to be paid as presented.

Next regular meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 6:00pm at the Fire Department.
