NEWTON TOWNSHIP MINUTES 7-12-2017

Newton Township Trustees met in regular session on Wednesday, July 12th, 2017.  Those in attendance were Newton Township resident John Phillips; Scott Belcastro with Trebel LLC, Larry Taylor, Road Maintenance Supervisor; Chief Allen Deaver of the Fire Department, Assistant Chief & EMS Coordinator Craig Knox of the Fire Department; James R. Smith and Robert Stephenson, Charles R. Elson, Township Trustees and Derek Dozer, Fiscal Officer.

Meeting was called to order by Trustee Smith at 6:00pm.

Pledge to the flag was led by James R. Smith.

Agenda approved.

Minutes were approved as presented.

Public Participation:

Scott Belcastro with Trebel LLC

Levy lost by minimal votes last election and would like to know if the Trustees are ok with running the issues again if Trebel does a better job in educating the public on the benefits of running them etc.

The trustees agreed to allow Trebel to again work to pass their energy consolidation services for Newton Township.

 

Fire Department Business

FEMA Grant was approved.  Turnout gear, forceable entry trainer, boots, helmets, etc.

Training will be starting again in the Fall and will be oversaw by Marty Mercer.

Brady Johnson – Fire Training Coordinator

Josh Tilton – EMS Training Coordinator

Kaleigh Yarger – Continuing Education Coordinator

Water Heater sprung a leak.  Need to replace tank with a hole in it.

Central air unit in gym cafeteria was plugged up and damaged.  Plugged line in meeting room downstairs was fixed.

Have not heard back on budget meeting.  Requested figures from Auditor.

 

 

Road Report

Grinding as much as possible.  5 trees went down in recent storms.

Roads to be chip sealed were selected and are:

Porter Run, Bush Run, Butcherknife, Opera, Crock, Ridgley, Payne, Leffler, Mahon, Dennis, Lewellyn, Stires.  13 miles of road to be sealed.

                Nothing more to report.              

Trustees Reports:

                Nothing further.

Payment registers, appropriations, fund status reports, grass roots clippings received.

All bills presented were deemed to be valid expenditures and were to be paid as presented.

Presented and discussed two nuisance complaints on Limestone Valley Road.

Next regular meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 9th, 2017 at 6:00pm at the Fire Department.
