NEWTON TOWNSHIP MINUTES 4-12-2016

Newton Township Trustees met in regular session on Tuesday, April 12, 2016.  Those in attendance were Scott Belcastro – Trebel LLC, John Phillips, Newton Township resident; Larry Taylor, Road Maintenance Supervisor;  Assistant Chief & EMS Coordinator Craig Knox of the Fire Department.  James R. Smith, Robert Stephenson, and Charles R. Elson, Township Trustees; Derek J. Dozer, Township Fiscal Officer.

Meeting was called to order by Trustee Elson at 6:02pm.

Pledge to the flag was led by Charles Elson.

Agenda approved.

Minutes were approved as presented.

Public Participation:

Scott Belcastro – Trebel LLC

Made brief presentation on Trebel’s energy aggregation program.  Left information for the Trustees.

Fire Department Business

Feb numbers = 23 Fire runs and 83 EMS runs for a total of 106.

100% of students passed the FF1 class.  18 in class.

22 in FF2, 7 from Newton.

Medic 1082 is still having airbag problems, not holding air.  It is at Lucas.

Buying Lucas 2.2 automated CPR device.  FD Association will pay for what grant does not.

Sign out front fixed.

Handed out tax valuation information for levies.

FDIC coming up.

 Road Report

Larry Taylor

-          Grading has been big priority.

-          Old Glory and Donna need to be worked on when can.

-          22 and Broadvue received 1 ¾ inches of rain in short time and heard flooded area.

-          Mowing to start on May 1st.

Old Business

More talk about Avondale.   Zemba is not compacting the soil as per specifications that the Trustees approved.  The County is aware of this and has done checks to confirm that the work is not being done correctly.  This is going to be a big problem in 2, 5, 10 years as the soil settles and creates ongoing problems for the residents and the Township in trying to maintain the roads.

Fiscal Officer reports:

·         Presented payment registers, fund status reports, bank reconciliation, grass roots clippings.

All bills presented were deemed to be valid expenditures and were to be paid as presented.

Next regular meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 10th, 2016 at 6:00pm at the Fire Department.
