NEWTON TOWNSHIP MINUTES 9-8-2015

Newton Township Trustees met in regular session on Tuesday, September 8, 2015.  Those in attendance were Larry Taylor, Road Maintenance Supervisor,  Allen Deaver; Craig Knox and Larry Geiger of the Newton Fire Department.  Township residents; Sherry Ziemer, Bob Mock, and John Phillips.  James R. Smith, Robert Stephenson, and Charles R. Elson, Township Trustees; Derek J. Dozer, Township Fiscal Officer.

Meeting was called to order by Trustee Stephenson at 6:00pm.

Pledge to the flag was led by Robert Stephenson.

Agenda approved.

Minutes were approved as presented.

Public Participation:

None

Fire Department Business

Server was put into service and it up and running.

Chicken BBQ set for Sept 27th.

Crawmer to mill down and repave the driveway where hump is now.  $600

Training Charter was approved by the State.

Road Report

Larry Taylor

-          Cold Mix.  Have used around 100 tons of the 200 tons ordered from the County.

-          Salt to be delivered in October and the end of November – 300 tons.

-          Culverts on FoxFire and Lower Kroft are in.

-          Campbell culvert in Avondale to be fixed after Chip and Seal.

-          Trustee Smith said some attention needs to be paid to Porter Run.

-          Mock Excavating completed work on 22/Broadvue Circle Culvert.

Motion to accept Chip Seal bid of $106,549 for 8.6 miles of road to be completed by the County on Statebid with Newton supplying the gravel.  James Smith seconded the motion.  All 3 Trustees agreed to the motion.

Fiscal Officer reports:

·         Presented letter from County Auditor on Special Assessments and how to get them on the ballot if interested.

·         Cindy Bailey called from Maysville Pike on questions regarding zoning for farm animals.

·         Went over issues and answered questions on Insurance Audit of Property Recommendations from OTARMA.

·         Presented payment registers, fund status reports, bank reconciliation, grass roots clippings.

All bills presented were deemed to be valid expenditures and were to be paid as presented.

Next regular meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 6:00pm at the Fire Department.
