NEWTON TOWNSHIP MINUTES 10-13-2015

Newton Township Trustees met in regular session on Tuesday, October 13, 2015.  Those in attendance were Larry Taylor, Road Maintenance Supervisor,   Township residents; Sherry Ziemer, Jeff Wheeler, Chris Jarvis, Amanda Jarvis, Michelle Smith, Brian Smith, Chip Wilson, Duane Bolyard, Kimberly Hammersmith, Karen Davis, and John Phillips.  James R. Smith, Robert Stephenson, and Charles R. Elson, Township Trustees; Derek J. Dozer, Township Fiscal Officer.

Meeting was called to order by Trustee Stephenson at 6:00pm.

Pledge to the flag was led by Robert Stephenson.

Agenda approved.

Minutes were approved as presented.

Public Participation:

3515 Dona Drive.  Neighborhood has an ongoing storm drainage problem.  Many residents came to speak on the issue.  Would like to see what the Township can do.  3295 is being purchased by the Rolling Plains Church which will make the problem even worse.  Michelle Smith of 3345 Rebecca said the water pools badly in her yard.

August – 72 Runs (13 Fire, 59 EMS)

September – 71 Runs (9 Fire, 62 EMS)

Road Report

-          Chip Seal is completed.

-          Market and Madison sign put up for traffic.

Old Business

Trustee Stephenson – 3640 Washington Street.  Talked to Prosecutors Office.

Trustee Elson – 2970 Thorn culvert and ditch has been a problem.   Brenda Hunter on Cannon Street has called to get street repaired.

 New Business

None.

Fiscal Officer reports:

·         Presented letter from AT&T on cut wires.  Dozer will call.

·         Board of Elections letter on use of facility.

·         Read letter regarding Salt lawsuit award.

·         Workers Compensation letter on Sterling.

·         Went over issues and answered questions again from Insurance Audit of Property Recommendations from OTARMA.

·         Presented payment registers, fund status reports, bank reconciliation, grass roots clippings.

All bills presented were deemed to be valid expenditures and were to be paid as presented.

Next regular meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 6:00pm at the Fire Department.
