NEWTON TOWNSHIP MINUTES 11-10-2015

Newton Township Trustees met in regular session on Tuesday, November 10, 2015.  Those in attendance were Larry Taylor, Road Maintenance Supervisor,   Township resident John Phillips.  Assistant Chief & EMS Coordinator Craig Knox and Chief Allen Deaver both of the Fire Department.  James R. Smith, Robert Stephenson, and Charles R. Elson, Township Trustees; Derek J. Dozer, Township Fiscal Officer.

Meeting was called to order by Trustee Stephenson at 6:00pm.

Pledge to the flag was led by Robert Stephenson.

Agenda approved.

Minutes were approved as presented.

Public Participation:

Mr. Phillips asked for an update on the drainage issue.

Fire Department Business

October 83 runs.  15 Fire and 68 EMS.

Newton Fire was recognized by Genesis last month for the care of two stroke victims.

2 classes going on now.  Basic and EMT refresher.

Discussion on a possible new medic.   We got off schedule from the every 3-5 year.  The one they want to replace is 13 years old.  2003 – International Navistar currently.  80-90k was cost of first refurb.  Want to downsize chasis and cut some of cost out.

Boilers controls expected to be around $4,000.

Gunther will be used to write grants for SCBAs, Air Compressor, Turnout Gear etc.  5% match.  Will cost around $500.

Trustee Stephenson made a motion to go into an agreement with RFG & Associates Inc. to write grant for Township Fire Department.  Trustee Smith seconded the motion and all 3 agreed.

Road Report

Larry Taylor

-          Dilts turnaround is complete.

-          Old Glory will need cold mix.

-          Charles Guttery – McFarland catch basin issue was discussed.

-          Guardrail on Harlan Rd – Trustee Elson call the County.

-          Signs were discussed and will be noted better on Road Sheets.

Trustees Reports:  – Nothing further

Fiscal Officer reports:

·         Went over issues again from Insurance Audit of Property Recommendations from OTARMA.

·         Presented payment registers, fund status reports, bank reconciliation, grass roots clippings.

All bills presented were deemed to be valid expenditures and were to be paid as presented.

Next regular meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 6:00pm at the Fire Department.
