NEWTON TOWNSHIP MINUTES 3-10-2015

Newton Township Trustees met in regular session on Tuesday, March 10, 2015.  Carla Brooks visitor, Robert Boyd, Richard Granger, John Phillips, Martin Smith, and Sherry Ziemer, Township residents; Larry Taylor, Road Maintenance Supervisor.  James R. Smith, Robert Stephenson, and Charles R. Elson, Township Trustees; Derek J. Dozer, Township Fiscal Officer.

Meeting was called to order by Trustee Stephenson at 6:10pm.

Pledge to the flag was led by Robert Stephenson.

Agenda approved.

Minutes were approved as presented.

Public Participation:

Martin Smith – 7600 Fletcher Rd.  Came to meeting to ask if the Trustees would consider abandoning part of Fletcher Rd.  Trustees to consider it.  Trustee Stephenson to contact the Engineer’s Office.

Robert Boyd – Coming in response to the Open Meeting letter the Trustees sent to him.  Explained why meeting was held.  Mr. Boyd stated that past partner did not pay taxes and created problems.  Discussed the need to complete the clean-up due to health and fire hazard.  Mr. Boyd agreed to have the trash and area cleaned up by June 1st.  If Mr. Boyd doesn’t clean up the properties by then the Township will be forced to get a company clean up the properties and assess Mr. Boyd’s taxes.

Fire Department Business

69 Runs in Feb.  19 Fire & 50 EMS.

 

Road Report

Larry Taylor

-          Hauling stone now that thawed.

-          Workman was very bad.

-          Got some cold mix from Mar Zane.

-          Need 2 culverts on Rucker Rd.

-          Ford Rd. bridge is still an issue.

-          Smith will order culverts from Carter Lumber before price increase.

-          Morrison Rd to be looked at by Engineer’s Office and could belong to Brush Creek.

-          Will mark off Old Glory to get quote.

 

Old Business

Greenhouse Rd – Still a problem with property.  Mr. Waltermire is no longer interested in purchasing the property.

New Business

Smith – None.

Elson – None.

Stephenson – None.

Trustees Reports:

Elson – Nothing further

Smith – MoxaDarla oak tree.  Power Company is aware.  Will get a price on bucket truck to cut it down.

Stephenson – Nothing further.

Fiscal Officer reports:

·         Presented payment registers, fund status reports, bank reconciliation, grass roots clippings.

·         Correspondence:

o   BWC on John White ongoing Workers Comp case from 1979.

o   Court of Common Pleas on Wilma Morris property in Fultonham.

o   MORE Grant will be available again in 2015 and we received in 2014.

All bills presented were deemed to be valid expenditures and were to be paid as presented.

Next regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 6:00pm at the Fire Department.
