NEWTON TOWNSHIP MINUTES 7-07-2015

Newton Township Trustees met in regular session on Tuesday, July 07, 2015.  Those in attendance were Larry Taylor, Road Maintenance Supervisor and Craig Knox of the Newton Fire Department.  James R. Smith, Robert Stephenson, and Charles R. Elson, Township Trustees; Derek J. Dozer, Township Fiscal Officer.

Meeting was called to order by Trustee Stephenson at 6:00pm.

Pledge to the flag was led by Robert Stephenson.

Agenda approved.

Minutes were approved as presented.

Public Participation:

None.

Fire Department Business

84 Runs (10 – Fire,74 – EMS) in June.

8K Public Safety grant was awarded to FD.

Would like to order to refurbished ToughBook computers to use.  Cost should be $1,795 each.  Have used these pcs in the past and they work out well.

Trustee Smith made the motion to purchase two refurbished ToughBook computers cost not to exceed $2,000 each.  Trustee Stephenson seconded the motion and all 3 agreed.

Boat is fitted, up and running now.  Crews have used it a couple of times to test it at Lake Isabella.

There was another County-wide meeting to discuss EMS and Mutual Aid Agreements, etc.

Road Report

Larry Taylor

-          Culverts on Porter Run Rd need to be replaced.   Replacing culverts at Collards on Lower Kroft.

-          Broadvue Circle.  Water is draining down into Workmans area.

-          Tree taken down on Moxadarla at Hartmans.

-          Collard on Dilts agrees to take down trees for turnaround.

-          Weeds on Mona Drive on Hutchinson’s apartments area.

-          Old Glory – Needs to be zipped and stoned.

-          Georgia Pines continues to fall apart.  Another area needs to be zipped.

-          Little culvert on Crock needs to be replaced.

-          Lengthy discussion on chip seal.  Need to cut down amount of roads due to funding.

Trustees Reports:  – Nothing further

Fiscal Officer reports:

·         Presented payment registers, fund status reports, bank reconciliation, grass roots clippings.

All bills presented were deemed to be valid expenditures and were to be paid as presented.

Next regular meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 11th, 2015 at 6:00pm at the Fire Department.
