NEWTON TOWNSHIP MINUTES 4-14-2015

Newton Township Trustees met in regular session on Tuesday, April 14, 2015.  John Phillips, Township resident; Larry Taylor, Road Maintenance Supervisor.  Larry Geiger and Craig Knox of the Newton Fire Department.  James R. Smith, Robert Stephenson, and Charles R. Elson, Township Trustees; Derek J. Dozer, Township Fiscal Officer.

Meeting was called to order by Trustee Stephenson at 6:00pm.

Pledge to the flag was led by Robert Stephenson.

Agenda approved.

Minutes were approved as presented.

Public Participation:

None.

Fire Department Business

84 Runs in March.  60 EMS and 24 Fire.

AllState – Disputing labor rate, parts and other aspects of Medic crash.  OTARMA to settle with AllState.

Check for Auditors Office about Sprint and MARCS radios came in.  Perry County is going to MARCS as primary.  Newton is currently applying for grants.  Need 9 radios and walkies if went to MARCS here.

Road Report

Larry Taylor

-          Rain has forced culvert cleaning and will need to start ditching.

-          Porter Run Rd – Culvert issue at Lantz Farms.

-          Avondale Sewer Project to start in Fall 2015.

-          Morrison Rd. – Engineers Office sent letter stating that it is ours to deal with.

-          Dilts Lane – Trustee Stephenson will talk to Engineer’s Office about the Cul-De-Sac.

 

Old Business

Greenhouse Rd – Still a problem with property.  Mr. Waltermire is no longer interested in purchasing the property.

New Business

County Eng’s meeting on April 23rd at 9am for Trustees.

Smith – Received call about water coming out onto FoxFire apartments.

Old Glory is breaking up worse.

Cross Alley sign in Ironspot needs put up.

Tipton Road was stoned, firetrucks were sinking into it last time out.

Slippage at Leffler and Swackhammer.

Elson – None.

Stephenson – Slippage at Mahon Rd at Kelly’s residence.

Boyds have yet to clean anything up.

Trustees Reports:

Elson – Nothing further

Smith – Nothing further.

Stephenson – Nothing further.

Fiscal Officer reports:

·         Presented payment registers, fund status reports, bank reconciliation, grass roots clippings.

·         Correspondence:

o   Salt Contract with State.

o   Medicare as secondary payer questions.

o   Community Development Public Hearing

o   Letters from Maysville students.

All bills presented were deemed to be valid expenditures and were to be paid as presented.

Next regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 6:00pm at the Fire Department.
