NEWTON TOWNSHIP MINUTES 4-8-2014

Newton Township Trustees met in regular session on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. 

Don Madden – Muskingum County Sewer and Water, Randy Spring, Mallory Spring, John Phillips and Sherry Ziemer, Township residents; Larry Taylor, Road Maintenance Supervisor;  James R. Smith, Robert Stephenson, and Charles R. Elson, Township Trustees; Derek J. Dozer, Township Fiscal Officer.

Meeting was called to order by Trustee Smith at 7:00pm.

Pledge to the flag was led by James R. Smith.

Agenda was approved as read.

Minutes were approved as presented.

Public Participation:

Don Madden

Public meeting tomorrow at Rolling Plains Church (1p-7p).  Need easement from almost every house in Avondale.  Vast majority of construction has moved to edge of street.  No tap fee for homeowners.  No rate increase to project.  Project is to comply with EPA requirements.  122 easements needed.

Fire Department Business

-          None.  At FDIC.  Presented run stats for month.

-          Trustees confirmed approval of Josh Weaver.

 Road Report

Larry Taylor

-          Riprapped on Shaw.

-          Marked storm sewer in White Cottage.

-          Sheila Lane does not have culverts as needed in driveways due to poor planning and construction.  No place for water to go.

-          Has bin for cold mix ready.

-          Thompson Run culvert.

Old Business

None.

New Business

Smith – Old Glory paving would be around $26,000.

Elson – End of Stine is getting pretty rough.  Hole at the end of Cinema completed?  When can need guardrail on Georgia Pines.

Stephenson – Mona/Dona Drive streetlights.  AEP.  Call (800) number to get lights in Cul-de-sacs.

Ditch on Freedom and Old Glory.

Discussion on salt for upcoming year.

Family Dollar going in Roseville at 93/Rosehill.

Market Street alley is Smith’s to maintain, not Townships. 

Broadvue area would be 40K for double chip seal, 21K for single.  Paving would be around $142K.

 Trustees Reports:

Elson – Nothing further

Smith – Nothing further.

Stephenson – Nothing further.

Fiscal Officer reports:

·         Presented payment registers, fund status reports, bank reconciliation, grass roots clippings.

·         Presented AT&T permit applications, OK Coal concrete price increase, Courtney Grant Worker’s Comp letter, Quasar facility tour invitation, Dam Safety meeting notification, CDGB Grant meeting, and Maysville Youth League Thank You.

All bills presented were deemed to be valid expenditures and were to be paid as presented.

Next regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 7:00pm at the Fire Department.
