NEWTON TOWNSHIP MINUTES - -
10-27-2005
Newton
Township trustees met October 27, 2005 at 7:00 PM at the Newton Township meeting
room at the township fire department. Those
in attendance were: Derek J. Dozer,
Charles R. Elson, and James C. Geyer, township trustees and Bernadine E. Swingle,
township clerk.
Meeting
was called to order at 7:05 PM by chairperson; Derek Dozer.
Agenda
was approved as presented.
Minutes
were approved as presented.
Public
Participation; nothing.
Fire
Department: The stucco work to
the outside of the building is progressing, but has not been completed at this
time.
The
Air Compressor used to fill air tanks has been serviced by Finley Fire.
Trustees
Report:
Geyer
reporting; A fence surrounding the cemetery at the boundary of Norma Lent
property in Fultonham has been estimated to be replaced at the cost of $300.00
-$350.00 and will be done by township employees in the near future.
Shelly
and Sands has not yet completed the blacktopping in Broadvue 2.
This is expected to be done in the next week.
Also, Geyer has contacted the company to spot finish a problem area at
the intersection of Panther Drive and Darlington Road.
This was satisfactory with the company.
Elson
reporting; nothing to report.
Dozer
reporting; there is the need of a culvert being installed on Payne Rd.
Pictures were presented by Dozer of problems arising from trash, garbage
and junk cars at a property in Ironspot. A
certified letter will be sent to this party requesting cleaning up debris,
noxious weeds and trash.
Pictures
were also presented of a Madison Street building in Avondale.
This area will be posted for clean up as there has been no response from
certified letters sent to owners of same.
The
Powell Drive area in question at the last meeting has been cleaned up to a
degree. It was agreed by all
trustees this will be sufficient for this season, but further action may be
necessary in spring of 2006.

Business: none reported.
New
Business: none reported
Clerk
Report
Expenses
were discussed for the old fire department on Limestone Valley Road for the past
10 months. Two letters of
information from the Muskingum County Association were copied and presented to
each of the trustees. These
contained info. Regarding the upcoming annual banquet to be held November 17,
2005 at Timber Run Grange and the possibility of using UAN computers.
Contact
has been made with a company to proceed with application for money needed for
purchase of a new medic in 2006. First
payment on the money would be due in May, 2006.
All three trustees agreed to proceed with this arrangement.
A
letter has been received from “Countrytyme” land specialists in Grove City
requesting their presence at the next township meeting in November.
The clerk will advise them as to the correct date of same.
Two
letters have been received from OBWC on a township employee.
A
letter of intent from the Muskingum County Commission was copied and presented
to each of the trustees to inform them of upcoming meetings with same.
A
letter and minutes from the Muskingum County Commissioners meeting with the
Pitcocks and neighbors re; the ownership of their road was presented to the
trustees for their review.
All
bills presented were deemed to be valid expenditures and were to be paid as
presented.
The
next regular meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at 7:00 PM at
the township meeting room. Notice
has been posted on the fire department door.
Also, notice has been sent to the Times Recorder as to the change of the
regular meeting times.
Meeting
