NEWTON TOWNSHIP MINUTES – 08-11-05
Newton
Township Trustees met in regular session on Thursday, August 8, 2005 at 8:30 PM
in the township meeting room at the fire department.
Those in attendance were; James C. Geyer and Charles R. Elson, township
trustees, Bernadine E. Swingle, township clerk and Allen Deaver, fire chief.
Minutes
from last meeting were corrected to read “Shelly and Sands Co.” rather than
Shelly Co. has been contracted to resurface Heckel Drive.
Deaver
reporting:
The
parking lot sealing project should be completed August 15 / 16, 2005.
He
made note of the scheduled meeting between the trustees and the entire fire
department for 7:30 PM on Monday, August 22, 2005.
Also, the trustees will hold an evaluation meeting with Deaver prior to
the 7:30 meeting.
The
window installation has begun and is progressing slowly.
Trustees
report:
Geyer
has been in contact with Shelly and Sands Co. re; necessary patching to be done
in the Lakewood Drive and Thorn Drive areas.
It was agreed by all trustees that they would proceed with the process.
Geyer
presented to the clerk a notice drawn up for all “Rucker Road” residents to
alert them as to future plans for preservation of their road.
This will be mailed to all residents on that particular road.
Geyer
noted that an employee has been registered to attend
the “Snow and Ice Control” workshop being presented through LTAP.
This will be held on September 27, 2005.
Elson
reported he has been contacted that Pete Hope Lane needs to be mowed.
Clerk
noted she has had a similar call regarding Dumolt Lane.
Also, clerk received a call from Lakewood Drive with some culvert
concerns. Elson noted he would
check both of these situations out.

Clerks’
report:
A
letter regarding “Noxious Weeds” has been received in the Avondale area.
This will be forwarded to Dozer to follow up.
Renewal
notice for employee’s health insurance has been received from Anthem Blue
Cross and Blue Shield. This was approved by all trustees.
A
policy (resolution) number for the recently adopted “junk cars, noxious weeds,
and other nuisance complaints” has been set at 02-05.
Notice
has been received from Frank Gates Co. that the township does not qualify for
the year 2006 for group rating with OBWC.
Notice
has been received that Knowlton Stone & Material at 8205 East Pike, Norwich,
OH is now open for business.
All
bills presented were deemed to be valid expenditures and were to be paid.
Next meeting for the trustees will be held on Monday August 22, 2005 immediately following the fire department meeting.
